2nd Sacrum Profanum Auction
On the last Friday of January 2021 at 7:30 p.m. at the Art in House Auction House, holiness will grow on the canvas of the mundane – and will not be as far from it as it might seem.
We cordially invite you to participate in the 2nd Sacrum Profanum Auction. In the catalog of this art auction, we have collected works in which the religious theme has been treated by our artists with complete freedom: it is orthodox, reflective, sentimental, pastiche, caricatured, and sometimes a bit iconoclastic. Could you suppose that Christian art and glam rock would find a common language? “Jesus Christ. Superstar” by Borys Fiodorowicz and the sumptuous monstrance of Maciej Rauch are convince us about it. Is there an alien civilization behind the Notre-Dame fire? Estera Parysz-Mroczkowska has her own opinion on this …
There will also be works that have treated the leading theme traditionally: among them the wonderful icon of St. Jerzy by Ewa Jaworska, the Candlemas of Jan Dubrowin, the melancholic monk of Jakub Wasilewski or St. Maria by Stanisław Kiczko. Wojciech Pelc and his biblical beast, Campio with the disturbing saint, Daniel Pielucha with a sermon and Tomasz Tobolewski with a soul catcher will introduce us to the dark atmosphere.
Or maybe it is the colorful works that will attract your attention first? We are talking about “Flames of Love” by Wojtek Brewka, Madonna with a child by Eugeniusz Gerlach, (not) brave characters of Jacek Lipowczan, Artur Smoła’s chair of grace or Zbigniew Olszewski’s compositions in the atmosphere of Día de Muertos.
