“I am fascinated by movement and pace and I think that it...

Luiza Poreda,

Krzysztof Jarocki is a painter, draftsman and sculptor. Horses are the main theme of his art work. He is fascinated by movement, and his painted pictures are dynamic and light at the same time. The artist traditionally organizes exhibitions at the Horse Racing Tracks in Warsaw during the most important races of the season and in Janów Podlaski at the Arabian horse auction. In 2015-2016, art works of Krzysztof, son of Jędrzej and Krzysztof’s sculpting brothers were presented at the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw. In 2019, the artist’s paintings were exhibited in Marbella, Spain, at the Excellence Art Gallery.

Krzysztof Jarocki has two brothers, sculptors, and he has been painting for several dozen years. His family tradition is creating horses, in sculpture and in painting. Family traditions are also maintained by his younger son Jędrzej, who studies painting.

My adventure with art has been going on for over fifty years. It all started with the older brother of Wojciech, who showed abilities in drawing, painting and carving during his childhood. Painted, carved horses were also coming out from under his hand. As is often the case, older siblings are an authority for the younger ones – that’s why I tried to imitate my brother – says Krzysztof Jarocki.

The siblings were brought up in a picturesque place, in the area of the present Narew National Park, and the surroundings had a huge impact on shaping the aesthetic sensitivity of the artists.

It was not without significance that our father had outstanding manual skills. He was a carpenter, stove fitter, bricklayer, and from his hand were tools that also had aesthetic value. My brothers and I had access to carpentry tools and materials, mainly wood. It so spontaneously happened that we chose horses, a symbol of strength and elegance, for the theme of our work. As we know, the horse in many cultures around the world enjoys many respects – says the artist.

As Krzysztof Jarocki explains, in art he does not care about the subject, but the way the work is performed. The subject is only an excuse to create.

While painting horses, over the years I have developed my characteristic style, I am fascinated by movement and pace, and I think that you can see it in my works. Sports and hippie themes allow me to use a wide range of colors. Various approaches to the subject, from real representation through expression to abstraction – he says.

It all starts with a sketch.

I apply the principle from general to detail, the final result gives the impression of many understatements, and thus allows for any interpretation of the viewer. The drawing is very fast, intuitive, it reflects my temperament. I use various techniques, from drawing, through watercolor, acrylic, pastels, to oil paints. I also often create my own techniques by combining various painting materials. I do not avoid other subjects, such as marine landscape, still life, sometimes portrait – adds Krzysztof Jarocki.

Together with his brothers, Wojciech and Zbigniew – graduated of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, they organized family exhibitions many times. A few years ago their group was joined by the son of Krzysztof Jarocki – Jędrzej, currently a student of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. At the turn of 2015-2016, art works of the Jarocki family were on display for six months at the exhibition at the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship in Łazienki Królewskie in Warsaw.

When organizing exhibitions, I combine them with a live painting show. I often organized exhibitions on the occasion of hippie events, at horse racing tracks, Cavaliada and an Arabian horse auction in Janów Podlaski. In addition, for many years I have had a studio and an author’s gallery in the Blue City shopping center, which gives me the opportunity to spontaneously meet the recipient of my work – says the painter.

Krzysztof Jarocki’s clients include private individuals from Poland and abroad, companies, banks, hotels (including Warszawianka, Dolina Charlotty, Holiday Inn). As the painter says, for an artist, apart from the satisfaction of creating, it is important that the effects of his work appeal to at least one person.

As he says, art is perceived best by children, and in his studio there are individual classes for children. He is still surprised by the talent of children, encouraged by, among others for calligraphy. He is also pleased that he has an impact on other recipients of art in Poland.

I am very satisfied with the fact that under my influence many people start visiting galleries and museums – says Krzysztof Jarocki.
