One of Rembrandt’s paintings on art auction in January!
An exciting art auction will take place on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Sotheby’s New York. It will feature a unique painting by Rembrandt Hermens van Rijn – a biblical work entitled “Abraham and the Angels”. It shows the moment when Abraham, who generously offered food to three strangers, recognized that two of them were in fact angels and the third was God.
This is one of only two works on the Old Testament theme of this famous painter. A small oil painting (dimensions of the work is 16 x 21 cm) was made in 1646. The expected destination for this painting at Sotheby’s January art auction is up to $ 30 million!
“Abraham and the Angels” is a painting that has been in private hands for years. It was last seen at an art auction in 1848. Then it was sold for £ 64. Later it went into other hands for a price of around 5 million British pounds. As experts say, this will perhaps be your last chance to purchase one of Rembrandt’s paintings. Experts from Sotheby’s expect that this image will hit the Asian continent.
The originality of this work is undeniable – Rembrandt is clearly indicated by the signature, date, existing bibliography and documented history of the painting.
