Agnieszka Kostka

Agnieszka Kostka (1989) – based in Warsaw, Poland. The main axis of the artist’s interests has been symmetrical spatial photography, which has become the starting point for the pieces she creates. The leitmotif of works was geometry and abstract forms characterized by richness of colors. Artistic output includes not only abstract forms, but also sketches and poster designs. Artist’s paintings are in private collections and regularly appear at art auctions at Polish auction houses.

Artist statement:

I am a very attentive observer of everyday life, social behaviors and nature itself. My canvas present all fields of man’s existence, I treat each of them as a story about feelings, memory of complicated issues.

Through my works, I would like to generate spectrum of feelings. Art is perceived subjectively, so for some people my canvas could be depressive, sometimes I hear that my paintings are inducing nostalgia or melancholy, on the scale with the power, happiness and energy… For me, the most important thing is that my art generates any feelings.

I want to show extreme emotions using colors which in non-literal way present real situations. Common motifs that appear on my canvas are the space and the water – I usually combine them with dead and dark background matter. I experiment with textures, sizes and the forms.

Art is not my learned profession, it is a way to create my own, quiet space where I could transfer my thoughts into canvas and communicate with the world.
