Andrzej Sajewski
Andrzej Sajewski (born 1957) graduated from the Częstochowa University of Education under Prof. Andrzej Niekrasz.
His early works were created in the style of magical realism. His work also fits into the genre of fantastic hyperrealism. He most often paints using oil on canvas and glazing techniques. The subjects of his works include figures (female portraits, nudes, ballerinas), nature, technology and landscapes.
His paintings are inspired by the literature of Ken Kesey, Gabriel Marquez, Umberto Ecco and the music of Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and Dead Can Dance. He cites ‘The Burning Giraffe’ as the work of art that has had the greatest influence on him, and Zdzisław Beksiński, whom he visited with his father, as the artist who has influenced him the most. He also refers to ancient sculptures and deities.
‘My oil paintings take a long time to complete, sometimes a month or more, but I paint for several hours every day while listening to music. I am glad that my works adorn the interiors of private collectors in Poland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Russia and Estonia.’
