Daria Zbień

Daria Zbień is an artist born in Wrocław in 2002.

From her youngest years she has been fascinated by old art, especially the art of the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods. She wants to combine her passion for the art of old masters with modern art. According to the artist, this composition is a reflection of the current times, in which we are eager to return to patterns from the past. The artist believes that a similar procedure is commonly used today, which can be observed in various fields of art such as: film, music and literature.

Inspired by the work of outstanding artists Ewa Juszkiewicz and Volker Hermes, the "Faceless" series was created. A series of paintings painted without a face, which is a contemporary interpretation of the most outstanding works of art of all time. Using this procedure, the artist gives mystery to the figures, thus creating a new, unique meaning. As she claims, when looking at a painting, we first direct our gaze to the face, it is the most important part of the entire composition, according to the artist it is the "soul" of the painting. By removing the most important element from the image, we arouse many emotions and stimulate the senses, we have the impression that something is missing. In this way, the artist depicts emptiness in an extremely subtle way. According to the artist, the most important thing is for art to evoke emotions in the viewer and encourage reflection. The artist creates works based on the works of artists such as: Joshua Reynolds, Jeans-Marc Nattier, Antoon van Dyck, Thomas Gainsborough and Rembrandt.
