Eugeniusz Dzierżencki
Eugeniusz Dzierżencki (born in 1905 in Warsaw, died in 1990 in Sopot) - was a Polish marine painter.
Already before 1939, he became known as an experienced mariner and creator of city landscapes in Gdańsk and Sopot, he lived in Karwia, Jastrzębia Góra and Lisi Jar. In the summer season, he organized outdoor exhibitions for vacationers, including: in Kuźnica and Jurata. After World War II, he lived in Sopot, and together with Ignacy Klukowski, Antoni Suchanek and Maksymilian Kasprowicz, he was the founder of the Gdynia Association of Visual Artists on the Coast. Together with Marian Mokwa, they are considered the most important contemporary Polish seafarers. He participated in exhibitions organized in Poland and abroad, including: Germany, Japan and New Zealand. Eugeniusz Dzierżencki's works were often bought by shipowners from France, Great Britain, the United States, Brazil and Norway and decorated the interiors of ships flying these flags.
He painted cutters on the beach, at sea and while fishing, ships in ports, in the roadstead and going out to sea, ports, wharves, beaches and rugged coastal dunes, as well as people of the sea, port workers and ordinary Kashubian fishermen. He also created vedutes and city views of Tricity.
