DISPLAYS: Eugeniusz Markowski is an artist born in 1912 in Warsaw. He died in 2007. He was the Graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (he obtained his diploma in 1938 in the studio of Professor T. Pruszkowski). In the post-war years, he became a member of Italian art groups: Libera Associazione Arti Figurative and Art Club. From 1955 he stayed permanently in Poland as a professor at his alma mater. His work includes painting, set design and graphics. Critics consider him as one of the artists of the new figuration, and even art brut. A frequent representation in his paintings are deformed human-animal hybrids in vivid, contrasting colors.
