Henryk Epstein
Henryk Epstein (1891, Łódź – 1944, likely Auschwitz concentration camp) was a Polish painter of Jewish origin associated with the Parisian École de Paris. He studied at the School of Drawing and Painting of Jakub Kacenbogen in Łódź, the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. From 1913, he lived and worked in the renowned artists' colony La Ruche. Epstein exhibited at major Parisian salons, including the Salon d’Automne, Salon des Indépendants, and Salon des Tuileries. His painting combined post-impressionist structure with expressive color and a synthetic approach to form. He focused primarily on landscapes, still lifes, urban and port scenes. His works are held in several public collections, including the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.
