Jacek Zwoniarski
Jacek Zwoniarski was born in 1959. Between 1979 and 1984, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, specializing in Sculpture under the guidance of Professor J. Kucz and Professor S. Kulon. In addition to sculpture, he is also involved in creating bonsai. Zwoniarski has participated in numerous exhibitions and symposia both in Poland and abroad. His works can be found in private collections and are also displayed in public spaces.
Abstract thinking about form is the focus of Jacek Zwoniarski's artistic exploration, even when the subject of his work is the human figure. From the vast range of topics related to the human form, he has concentrated on representations of torsos. His preferred sculptural materials are various types of stone, which he uses to highlight their diverse colors and textures. Through his creations, he affirms the inseparable and effective triumvirate of the human mind, eye, and hand. His formal solutions and spatial management guide the viewer to figures emerging from blocks of stone. These works carry a significant charge of sensuality, though not always tied to mimetic depictions of women. This sensuality, hidden within the cold, unyielding marble, awaits its emergence through the artist’s creative intervention.
