Janusz Lewandowski
Janusz Lewandowski (born in 1937 in Rokic near Płock, died in 2022 in Warsaw) - artist and painter. He studied at the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studio of prof. Artur Nacht-Samborski. He obtained his diploma in 1964. After graduating, he took an active part in the artistic life. Participant of many plein-airs and symposiums (Ustka 1972, Krapkowice 1973 - project of the Górażdże cement plant in a team with Marian Bogusz and Juliusz Woźniak, Złote Grono 1975, Osieki 1979, Festivals of Fine Arts in Warsaw, 1966, 1970, 1972 , 1975, 1978). He has been honored with numerous awards and distinctions, incl. at the 24th National Winter Art Exhibition "Metaphor in contemporary painting and drawing" in Radom (1980), the Award of the President of Warsaw at the Exhibition of Painting and Graphics by Artists of the Warsaw Environment in Zachęta (1985), the Award "Artists in the International Year of the Child" in Zachęta (1979), the Polish-Japanese Prize Miyauchi (1995), the Władysław Hasior (2011), nomination for the Norwid Award (2012), Kazimierz Ostrowski (2017). In 2018, he was awarded the Order of Merit for the Polish State and Polish Culture.
