Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz
Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz (1919–2005) was a prominent Polish sculptor and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, known for works rich in symbolism and national identity. His artistic output included both monumental and small-scale sculptures, often inspired by patriotic and social themes.
One of his most iconic works is the Monument to the Little Insurgent in Warsaw, unveiled in 1983. The design, created in the 1940s, reflects on the tragedy of the youngest participants of the Warsaw Uprising.
Jarnuszkiewicz represented Poland at numerous international exhibitions, including the art competition at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. His sculptures are characterized by a simplified, synthetic form and a restrained visual language that conveys deep meaning. As a dedicated educator, he played a key role in shaping new generations of Polish artists.
