Lena Subota was born in 1962 in Ukraine. She graduated from an art high school in Yaroslavl and from the Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design in Saint Petersburg.
Her body of work includes oil paintings on canvas, drawings, advertising illustrations, posters, porcelain designs, theater costumes, as well as book and publication illustrations, along with various forms of graphic art.
