Maciej Cieśla
Maciej Cieśla is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, recognizable mainly in Germany. His style oscillates around abstraction, symbolism and expression, with a strong emphasis on the concept of archetype and primitive art. The painter touches on a whole range of private themes, unique to his world.
In 2019, an exhibition of his works took place in San Francisco, where he became famous for his portraits from the series "Between dream and archetype". The artist's great inspiration is nature and folklore, which he captures in the clash of female and private forms, so close to him and typical of his painting Fauns and Devils. The technical style of the artist draws heavily from primitive art, in the expressiveness of colors, lines, and aggressive clashes of colors.
An interesting fact is that Maciej Cieśla is a visually impaired painter due to Stargardt's disease. In his youth, the eye defect became the artist's motivation and driving force to pursue his ambitions.
After spending many years in Wrocław, the artist settled permanently in Szczecin.
