Maciej Jeliński
Maciej Jeliński was born in Szubin in 1967, where he lives and works to this day. He deals mainly with easel painting, drawing and installation.
His work is characterized by two things: great decorativeness and synthesis of forms. He interprets the art of Australian Aborigines in an original way. Knowing their works, and initially imitating their "dotting" technique, over the years he has developed his own style in painting: he applies structures of colorful dots and circles to flat colors, which harmonize with the background of the plane. Using abstract colors and shapes, he gives painted objects and characters a completely new dimension.
In 1999, together with the band "Krzyk", he implemented a project called "Harmony of image and sound". It consisted of several concerts combined with slide projections and exhibitions of Maciej's paintings (including December '99 - Węgliszek).
Happenings play an important role in his creative output, he has created over 20 installations, including: "Burning Towers of Babel" (constructed of cardboard pipes painted with dots, tied together with string), which he then burned.
He presented his works at over 30 individual and 40 collective exhibitions. The most important ones include: Dinxperlo (Netherlands), Koszalin, Lubostroń, Mogilno, Bydgoszcz, Inowrocław, Solec Kujawski, Wągrowiec, Nakło, Janowiec Wlk.
He is a member of the Szubin group of artists "PLAMA'S", with which he has been associated for 30 years, and for 15 years he ran the Gallery at SDK in Szubin, organizing monthly exhibitions for artists from Poland and abroad. Together with his wife, he also ran a private gallery "Korytarzyk'09" in Szubin.
