Ryszard Karczmarski

Born 1957 in Gdynia. He graduated from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin at the Faculty of Pedagogy (in 1984 he obtained a master's degree in technology). Actual member of ZPAF since 2001. In 2003-2017 president of the ZPAF Lublin District. Since 1984, he has been a member of the Photo Club of the Chełm Land. Major series of photographs: Świat Żagle, Orthodox Church, Night Landscapes, Borderlands of Eastern Poland, Touch of Light - pinhole photography, Portrait of an artist (Janusz Trzebiatowski), Inspiration, travel cards - Armenia, Thailand, Indonesia, III SONETY - Crimea - Bakczysaraj 2013, and Polesie series - meetings 2013-2016. Sailor, traveler. Organizer of workshops and open-air photography, including large format - alternative techniques and meetings at the meeting point, Ukraine 2016-2018. Two-time winner of the Chełm KAJA Award, as an animator and creator of culture. In 2017, he was awarded the Gloria Artis medal for his artistic activity and promotion of culture. Since 1976 he has run a private photo gallery in Chełm.
