Tomasz Kawiak

He was born in 1943 in Lublin. He is a graduate of the Academy of Arts in Warsaw (1968) and Paris (1971-1973). For 14 years he was a professor at the Art Institute in Orleans (1976-1990). He has been living in France since 1970. He was the creator of the first ecological happening in Lublin, "Pain by Tomek Kawiak" (1970). Since 1970, he has been running the so-called "Brickworks - BRICKWORK" - traveling around the world, he leaves Tomek Kawiak's Brick (brick fired in red clay and stamped) in his places of stay. He makes monumental sculptures about jeans and pockets. Critics called him the chronicler of the 20th century.
