Walerian Kryciński
Walerian Kryciński is a visual artist and ceramist, born on March 14, 1852 in Karolinów near Jaworów, died on March 7, 1929 in Kraków. In the years 1872–1875 he educated at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow under the supervision of Jan Matejko, Władysław Łuszczkiewicz and Feliks Szynalewski. After graduation, he moved to Vienna, where he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and at the Kunstgewerbeschule under the supervision of J.R. Storck, Sanfberger and Ermenegildo Donadini. He also made an artistic expedition, during which he was in Augsburg, Frankfurt am Main, Cologne, Nuremberg, Salzburg, Munich, Czech Prague and Paris.
In 1879, the artist returned to Krakow, in the years 1880-1898 he was a lecturer in drawing and decorative painting at the gymnasium in Kołomyja, from 1885 he lectured on the technology of ceramic processes. Then, in 1898, he moved to Lviv, where he became the director of the Industrial School.
Years later, the artist returned to Kraków, where he died in 1929. He was buried at the Rakowicki Cemetery.
