THE DATE LINE. MILA AND DENIS CHYŻAWSKI
The title of the exhibition "The Date Line" refers to the ever-changing world dictated by the passage of time, constant motion, movement, and growth. It also establishes a boundary between two realities: the literal external world of nature depicted by Mila and the mysterious world flowing somewhere beyond visibility, portrayed by Denis. The line symbolizes development, evolution, and transformation. This theme is most evident in the works from the series "Sunflowers", which literally depict sequences of time—flowers captured at various moments of their growth cycle, at different times of the day, and under various weather conditions. Denis assigns a more abstract meaning to the motif, linking the painterly form to the geometry of time: its distribution, spatial limitations, and changes within the image. Additionally, the exhibition takes place during the transition from winter to summer time, which further encourages reflection on how the passage of time influences our perception of the world and our well-being throughout the months of the year.
