This seemingly cheerful and energetic image refers to the destructive phenomenon of plastic pollution of our planet. Plastic is everywhere on our planet: from deserts and mountain peaks to deep oceans and arctic snows. As of 2016, estimates of global plastic emissions to the world's lakes, rivers and oceans ranged from 9 to 23 million metric tons per year, with a similar amount emitted annually on land, polluting everything from soils to entire ecosystems. These numbers are expected to nearly double by 2025 if current-trend scenarios materialise.
A dozen plastic PET caps were used to do this job.
