Colors of change: Polish painting in Sopot
The list of artists whose paintings can be seen at this exhibition at the State Art Gallery in Sopot is impressively long. Among them: Olga Boznańska, Julian Fałat, Tadeusz Makowski, Stanisław Baj, Jacek Malczewski, Antoni Starowieyjski, Henryk Stażewski, Wojciech Weiss, Leon Wyczółkowski, Leon Chwistek, Tymon Niesiołowski, Jonasz Stern and Władysław Strzemiński. Krzysztof Musiał’s collection, which will be on display in the second half of August in Sopot, is undoubtedly one of the most valuable Polish private collections. When Musial began to build this collection, he probably did not realize how large it would be or how spectacular it would be. The impressive list of names and these Polish paintings is quite impressive, because among them we can find Polish paintings by, among others Matejko, Gerson, Fałat, Stanisławski, Boznańska, Wyspiański and Weiss.
The exhibition “Colors of Transformation” consists of a total of 170 objects of Polish painting that show the work of the most flagship artists from the collection of Krzysztof Musiał. In this exhibition, which we will see at the State Art Gallery in Sopot, Polish paintings will be shown by combining common artistic threads, showing the richness of solutions and artistic styles.
As the collector Krzysztof Musiał recalls, the first acquired work was one of Nikifor’s watercolors. These modest beginnings had a surprising continuation. For many years, the collector has been sharing his collections with lovers of Polish painting.
