6th Auction of Modern Classics in May!

The sixth edition of the Modern Classics auction will take place in May at the Art in House Auction House, during which it will be possible to auction works by outstanding artists working in the 20th and 21st centuries. Who are the Modern Classics? On the one hand, they are recognizable artists who have managed to permanently subscribe to the canon of Polish contemporary art; on the other hand, they are artists referring to the style and workshop of the old masters.

In the May catalog of this art auctions at Art in House, we collected works of a high artistic and technical level, sometimes made by names known from publications on contemporary art or from white museum walls.

Among the artists with an established position in the art world, we will see one of the members of the famous Gruppa, Włodzimierz Pawlak: there will be three works of this artist to be auctioned off, incl. art work from the characteristic series of “Diaries”. The co-founder of another excellent group from the 1960s (Neo Neo Neo), Jan Dobkowski, will take you to the world of abstraction, which we recommend you to admire up close. Lovers of magical realism will surely recognize Tomasz Sętowski’s dreamlike composition, and for fans of Józef Wilkoń we have prepared a watercolor painting of a horse. An interesting fact at the auction is the serigraphy with the work of Tamara Łempicka entitled Young Lady With Gloves, issued on the initiative of the artist’s granddaughter, Victoria, and a very naughty drawing of a Warsaw fountain by Edward Dwurnik.

The favorite motifs of the Far East art were presented in his abstract drawing by Andrzej Strumiłło; The landscape characteristic of the École de Paris can be seen in the work of Henryk Epstein, while the spirit of Capism will be revealed in the composition of Jan Cybis. The beauty of the female body is shown by the academic work of Michał Feliks Wygrzywalski and the expressive Nude in the Chair by Czesław Tumielewicz.

This art auction will also feature artists known from our New Art catalogs: Tomasz Kostecki and his art deco watercolor, Joanna Sarapata with a golden ballerina, Jan Dubrowin with an Edwardian maiden, Krzysztof Kopeć and Silesian abstraction, and Krzysztof Ludwin with a painting duet that transports us to Barcelona and picturesque Lanckorona.

All works will be displayed live during the pre-auction exhibition, which will start on May 17 and will last until the auction day. Familiarize yourself with the Classics and it will be a friendship for many years!
