In 1985, Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude completed the temporary work of art “The Pont Neuf Wrapped.”

Christo was born on June 13, 1935 in Bulgarian Gabrovo. On the same day, in Morocco, his future wife and companion of creative activities – Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon was also born. They are considered to be one of the creators of landscape art (so-called land art), and joint projects have brought them worldwide recognition.

Initially, a couple of artists dealt with packaging small items, but as early as 1969 they came up with the idea of wrapping the materials of huge objects, such as buildings, in cans. Their best known projects include covering two kilometers of the Australian coast with colored sheets, dividing the canyon in Colorado with a curtain 60 meters high and 420 meters long, surrounded by pink fabric of several islands in the bay near Miami, Florida, as well as the packaging of the Paris Pont Neuf bridge and the Berlin Reichstag building .

According to the last will of Christo (his wife died in 2009), there will be a pack of the Arc de Triomphe in the French capital. The “L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped” project will be implemented in 2021
