Exhibition About Time at the NCK in Krakow
Exhibition “About time” at the National Center for Culture in Krakow is to be the largest Krakow presentation of artists associated with the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw in many years.
Art gallery at NCK – references
Invitation to this art gallery addressed to the teachers of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław did not assume a specific thesis, but outlined a broad perspective of possible references. The participants were asked to accompany each work with an author’s commentary presented in any form: graphics, text, object, sketch or photo. A comment that will broaden the field of possible interpretation, as well as sources of inspiration, or bring closer the process of creating a work.

Forty painters responded to the proposal to take part in the exhibition, and the submitted proposals gave rise to a comprehensive story about what time is, both in individual experience and in a universal approach. The exhibition also shows how this time can be perceived and interpreted in many ways. Perhaps most importantly, it shows how the issue of time fits permanently into the painting matter and artistic sensitivity.

Six subject areas
The resulting art gallery covers six thematic areas: the issue of the cycle of human life and transcendence, references to the natural and urban landscape, abstract works arising from various inspirations by the problem of time, references to historical events, references to pop culture, as well as a work as a process. The described areas do not exhaust the possible interpretation and meaning paths of this art gallery.
