The classic of the genre is back! For the fifth time, we invite you to a meeting with the Modern Classics – artists who create in the 20th and 21st centuries, who have established their position on the art market as ambitious, original and well-known artists. Works collected in the catalog will be available for auction on November 27 at 7:30 pm at the Art in House Auction House (Al. Jerozolimskie 107, Warsaw).
In this catalog you will see one of the most interesting paintings by Wojciech Fangor, which is a testimony to the turbulent political changes in 1989; There will also be an organic landscape of Rajmund Ziemski from the 1970s, a sea abstraction by Tadeusz Dominik, a cosmic composition by Bronisław Kierzkowski, and Eastern spirituality turned into paper by Andrzej Strumiłła.
Representatives of figurative forms in our catalog are, in turn, Henryk Płóciennik (this time with two propositions – the image of a patron and a characteristic act), Józef Wilkoń (a fairy-tale portrait of a hoopoe), Maja Berezowska (you will certainly recognize the artist’s eroticism), Alfons Mucha (four lithographs show allegories of fine arts), Zofia Stryjeńska (Lowicz Pochoir) and Rafał Olbiński (the beauty of the female body captured in a drawing).
Artists whose “classicism” can also be interpreted as faithful to artistic tradition constitute a separate group: Tomasz Kostecki will show the timelessness of the art deco style; Mira Skoczek Wojnicka will present a Renaissance beauty; Marian Michalik will bring to mind Dutch still lifes (although much more in keeping with the present day), while Eugeniusz Gerlach will take us to the world of cubism at its best.
The auction will also include works that go beyond two dimensions: sculptures by Igor Mitoraj, Bolesław Chromy and Marian Konieczny, the creator of “Warsaw Nike”.
