MAGDALENA TOMCZEWSKA
Magdalena Tomczewska is a graduate of the College of Applied Arts and the University of Life Sciences in Poznan. Professionally, for many years, she has been producing and arranging exhibitions of artists from the 19th century to the present day at the ZAMEK Culture Center in Poznan. She has organized such exhibitions as: “Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Polish Context”, "Antoni Gaudi’, ”Unknown Impressionism. Manet, Pissarro and their contemporaries”, ”Painters of Normandy. Delacroix, Courbet, Renoir, Monet and others”, "Alphonse Mucha’ and many others.
Privately, she paints.
In her latest series, “Renaissance Women,” she focuses on the concept of beauty and ugliness, their perception and understanding, and the emotions they evoke. She incorporates elements of nature - insects - into the story. Insects are a special group of organisms that can arouse extreme emotions: although they are often beautiful, most of them are repulsive to us at first glance, often even disgusting. On the other hand, insects can attract our eyes, we admire their unusual colors and unique body structure.... It's beauty and ugliness in unison.
