Stasys Eidrigevičius

Lithuanian artist born on July 24, 1949. He creates paintings, posters, bookplates, drawings, illustrations and artistic installations. He is a graduate of the School of Arts and Crafts in Kaunas, where he received a diploma with honors for leather book covers. He continued his studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in Vilnius. Since 1980, the artist has lived and worked in Warsaw.

Stasys Eidrigevicius has won many awards at exhibitions and competitions around the world, e.g. at the International Exhibition of Illustrations for Children in Bratislava (1979, 1981), the 9th International Poster Biennale in Warsaw (1984) and the American Film Critics' Award for the poster for Janusz Kijowski's Masquerade. In 1981, the book King of Ravens he illustrated received the award of the Polish Society of Book Publishers as the most beautiful book of the year. In 1994, the artist received the "Passport" of the "Polityka" weekly for his lifetime achievement.

Through his works, the artist creates a theater in which the role is played by characters with a wise, insightful, anxious gaze. They are animals and people: beings processed by the artist's imagination, giving the impression of puppets. Stasys' art addresses human experience, morality, and emotion.
