Tomasz Kokott
Tomasz Kokott is a graphic designer and painter. He is a finalist of the 45th Bielska Jesień Painting Biennale.
He shows the reality in which we live, socially important topics and people - their emotions and experiences. He is a brave artist, sometimes controversial, and his art presents a strong masculine element.
Presenting the world in a creative way helps the Artist to better understand it. He shares this individual view with the audience. Regardless of whether he creates a commentary on current social events or shows the beauty of the human soul and body, his works always contain a huge emotional charge and are multidimensional.
Tomasz Kokott treats the audience of his works as a partner in discovering reality together - in all its colors, shapes, and shades. He believes that freedom in interpreting art is an inalienable right of everyone who has decided to experience it.
Tomasz Kokott uses techniques such as acrylic painting, collage, assemblage, and linocut. As he says himself, he is best at graphic painting, where the contour determines the form. However, he likes to experiment with techniques and adapt them to the topic he chooses.
The artist has been associated with art from an early age. As he says, in his family the easiness of drawing came naturally and that predisposition pushed him towards artistic work. It is worth mentioning that an outstanding Polish primitivist Teofil Ociepka from the Janowska Group and a French painter of Polish origin, portraitist, and illustrator Paul Merwart are Tomasz Kokott's ancestors.
Tomasz Kokott comes from Silesia and feels emotionally attached to this place. He was born in 1983 in Zabrze, where he began his education at the local High School of Fine Arts. After graduating, he studied in Cieszyn at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Silesia, where he obtained a master's degree in art in 2008 in the field of Graphic Arts and Graphic Design. In 2010, he completed a postgraduate degree in Interior Architecture and Design at the Silesian University of Technology.
It is also worth mentioning that the artist not only creates and lives in Silesia, but has also been working creatively for many years in local cultural institutions, preparing socially important projects - first as a designer and producer of exhibitions at the Silesian Museum in Katowice, and currently implementing artistic projects at Caro Villa [orig. Willa Caro] - a branch of the Museum in Gliwice. He also actively runs his own art gallery, so far on the Internet at www.kokottomek.com. This is where his works can be seen and purchased.
Tomasz Kokott is also a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers [orig. Związek Polskich Artystów Plastyków, ZPAP] in the Gliwice-Zabrze district. He is a laureate of over 10 awards and accolades, both for painting and graphic works. He took part in over 20 group exhibitions, presenting his works at exhibitions all over Poland. The interpretations of the reality painted by Tomasz Kokott could also be admired during the Artist's individual exhibitions organized in Silesia.
The artwork of Tomasz Kokott is characterized by the individual style of the Artist, both in terms of the undertaken themes and artistic techniques, which distinguishes it significantly from other artworks. His works are also universal - they refer to fragments of reality that have been experienced by his audience, therefore it provides the audience with freedom of interpretation. This combination makes these works unique and worth having. Becoming the owner of such artwork, in turn, is an opportunity to admire it - on a daily basis.
