''STYX'' from cycle ''Not so faraway..'', 2025

The painting was created in acrylic and impasto techniques, on a cotton canvas and is a part of the series ''Not so distant..''. Unframed/black sides, secured with glossy varnish/rare for me :) the subject of the painting refers to Greek mythology, to one of the five rivers of Hades, i.e. the underground kingdom of death. Every soul of the dead had to cross the river. Its waters were said to be deadly poisonous, and according to legend, Alexander the Great was to die after drinking this water. The painting is atmospheric and, despite the apparent peace, carries mystery and anxiety. Who knows, maybe one day each of us will have to cross the black depths of the Styx ;)
