Iris and Canvas, 2010

The forms of flowers are for me the calligraphy of nature - the richness of shapes and colors. Flowers in my painting interpretations are shapes inspired by nature, but extracted from the apparent chaos of stains and colorful structures. The presented painting was inspired by a beautiful, solitary iris, which is painted in different phases of its development simultaneously. The three-dimensional painting structure gives strength and expression to the floristic motif. In this painting I combine a natural linen canvas and a floristic painting motif full of warm colors, painted in the technique of structural acrylic painting.
