The over two-meter-long fabric by Magdalena Abakanowicz represents the artist's passion for creating art in soft materials and for creating large-format, abstract compositions constructed from threads. From the very beginning of her artistic career, the author has been working on monumental, woven installations, called Abakans. The effects can be seen in numerous museum exhibitions in Poland and abroad, where the artist's work can take up almost an entire exhibition hall. In turn, Abakanowicz's smaller-format fabrics are works of equally high artistic value, but interested collectors are able to hang them on their own walls and interact with them every day. This type of work can be bid on at the 18th Auction of Contemporary Classics at Art in House. "Abstract Fabric" from 1965 comes from a private, Poznań art collection and has not been presented at auctions or exhibitions before. The authenticity of the work was verified and confirmed by the Marta Magdalena Abakanowicz-Kosmowska and Jan Kosmowski Foundation. The fabric has a unique structure, Abakanowicz's craftsmanship is clearly visible in the way she combines various materials, and the whole work attracts with an interesting, abstract composition in warm colors. The artist's original signature is on the reverse of the work: "M. Abakanowicz 1965".
