Exoticism at Art in House: Flower Power! Exotic Art Auction
Orientalia and exoticism have always sparked great curiosity among Europeans, resulting in the massive import of Chinese porcelain, Japanese woodcuts, African masks, Hindu idols, and more. Today, ordering products from distant lands is no longer necessary to feel a change in atmosphere: just visit Art in House for the Flower Power! Exotic Art Auction, which will take place on June 4 at 7:30 PM at Aleje Jerozolimskie 107 in Warsaw. There, you will encounter unique paintings and sculptures, so be sure to check out the auction catalog.
Color vs. Darkness – Brewka, Zalewski, Kowalik, Kovelinas
At the very beginning of the offer, we will encounter works so diverse that it’s impossible to describe them with a single word; on one side, we have animal and colorful representations by Wojciech Brewka and Marcin Zalewski, while on the other, we see somewhat dark and unsettling female portraits painted by Kamila Kowalik and Andrejus Kovelinas. Enthusiasts of vibrant colors and remarkable forms will surely be delighted by the paintings “Puma – Deconstruction” and “Guru”, which radiate warm, positive, and dynamic energy. The wild and mysterious painting “Indonesian Eden” will catch the eye of those who appreciate numerous details, as this is what you will primarily see on the canvas. In contrast, “Gate to the 5th Dimension” will definitely transport us to another world, one that is somewhat serpentine but also robotic.
Ornithological Adventure in the Artistic Works
When we think of exoticism, images of multicolored, rare birds with long, feathery tails immediately come to mind. This avian theme unites many of the artworks presented at the auction. Vibrant toucans with impressive beaks will be showcased in the paintings of Paweł Świderski and Danuta Niklewicz. Chatty, cheerful parrots will be seen in the works of Marcin Painta and Dorota Goleniewska-Szelągowska. Maria Kucia-Albin has depicted flamingos resting from the heat, Jolanta Ziółkowska – hummingbirds fluttering around a flower, and Andrzej Cybura – penguins in Madagascar! Among the sculptures, we will also encounter a bird representation, a bronze peacock created by Jadwiga Bardyszewska.
Exotic Landscapes – Animated and Inanimate
We often seek wildness and exoticism in landscapes: beaches by blue waters, equatorial forests, and rocky slopes evoke the untamed, the unknown, and therefore the fascinating. Our auction features many paintings depicting more or less exotic landscapes. Joanna Mieszko has captured a delightful veduta that will transport us straight to sunny Porto, while Piotr Rembieliński, with his castle on a rock, invites us into a fairy-tale land. Paulina Rychter offers a blissful beach retreat alongside domesticated tigers. Aleksandr Yasin calms the atmosphere with his minimalist seascape featuring a surfer. In Magdalena Karwowska’s diptych, we see two completely different worlds: on one side, a hot beach, and on the other, the nightlife of a big city. Magdalena Kępka takes us on a true vacation to the Spanish town of Cadaques, where we will stroll among boats and the tight-knit structures of the seaside town.
Fruity Variations at Art in House
We also have some true delicacies in the form of exotic fruits that will instantly whet your appetite. Iza Jaśniewska invites us to a sultry Greek garden where we can stroll through an olive grove and admire these extraordinary gifts of nature. Zofia Wawrzynowicz treats us to a plump and juicy orange straight from the tree. Meanwhile, Michał Ostaniewicz presents a still life featuring tropical fruits such as bananas, lemons, and pomegranates.
Our auction will undoubtedly transport you to magical lands with a hot climate, so don’t hesitate to visit the pre-auction exhibition, which is already available at the Art in House Auction House located at Aleje Jerozolimskie 107 in Warsaw. Don’t forget about the auction, which will take place on June 4 at 7:30 PM. A captivating world full of colorful flowers, tropical fruits, extraordinary places, and wild animals will open up before us at the Flower Power! Exotic Art Auction.
