Agłaja Artysiewicz
Agłaja Artysiewicz was born in 1931 in Warsaw and died in Podlasie, specifically in Bielsk Podlaski, in 2001. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Faculty of Painting, obtaining a diploma from the same institution in 1957. From 1961, she participated in exhibitions organized by the Białystok District ZPZP. In the 1970s, she withdrew from active life and moved to the countryside. She willingly painted still lifes, far from the achievements of Dutch masters. Nudes and figures of artists captured during their creative work are the few topics to which Artysiewicz devoted more effort to depicting realistically. The choice of topic and method of painting - quick, as if hasty, reveals the author's temperament and lack of interest in detail. The painter tried to create a synthesis in which the mark of individualism is stronger than the canon of classical harmony.
You can read about Agłaja Artysiewicz in the album "Painters of Podlasie" published by the Podlasie Association for the Promotion of Art, and in the Index of Visual Artists 1939-1996 published by II.
