Bożena Biskupska
Bożena Biskupska was born in 1952 in Warsaw into a family of photographers. In the years 1967–1970 she attended the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Then she studied painting at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Poznań (1970-1972) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1972-1976), where she obtained a diploma with honors in the studio of prof. Tadeusz Dominik. Already during her studies, she undertook artistic exploration using various materials: from photographs, geometric metal works, painting forms (Prof. T. Dominik's studio) and weaving (Prof. Z. Gostomski's studio) to works on paper (Prof. R's studio). .Owidzki).
In 1976, the artist took part in the 11th National Exhibition of Young Art in Sopot, where she received a distinction. In the same year, Biskupska's works were shown in Copenhagen (Palace Kirke) at the Polish Art Festival in Warsaw. The artist's first individual exhibition took place at Dom Artysty Plastyka in Warsaw (1978).
Biskupska's work has always revolved around man, understood in a nutshell, evolving in his own way. The figures she constructed, displayed in various arrangements and positions, were barely outlined without any clear shapes.
