Henryk Cześnik
Henryk Cześnik born in 1951. He is a graduate of the Gdańsk PWSSP, he received a diploma in painting and graphics in 1977 in the studio of Kazimierz Ostrowski. He is a professor at his home university.
At the beginning of his artistic career he painted sacred subjects. A deformed human silhouette is a common topic. His paintings from the 1980s, instead of titles, had numbers similar to those in prisons or camps. All images of people in the artist's paintings have eyes embedded in them, cut out from illustrated magazines.
Henryk Cześnik made many artistic trips, participated in over a dozen national and international plein-airs. His works are in the collections of national museums, among others in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Moscow, Sofia, Dresden and in numerous private collections.
Winner of many prestigious awards, including 1st prize at the Gdańsk Art Biennale 1983/87, artistic prize C. K. Norwid 1988, Sopot Muse 2006, 1st Rector's Award for outstanding artistic achievements in 2008.
