Henryk Zegadło
Henryk Zegadło (born September 28, 1934 in the village of Krzyżka, died October 9, 2011 in Bad Bertrich) - Polish sculptor and painter.
From 1951, he attended an art school for two years, after graduating in 1953, he studied painting at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under the supervision of prof. Eugeniusz Eibisch. From 1960 to 1978, Henryk Zegadło and his father Adam ran an art atelier in Zakopane. At this stage, the artist created paintings on glass and sacred sculptures based on folk art, the most common motif was the figure of the Sorrowful Christ. He was the creator of theater decorations, his sculptures are a permanent element of folk art exhibitions (the largest collection is in the collection of the National Museum in Kielce). In 1978, he emigrated from the country to Germany, where he finally settled (in 2001 he took German citizenship). After visiting Japan in 1990, Henryk Zegadło began to create sculptures inspired by local folk art. In March 2001, the opening of a permanent exhibition of works called the Zegadła Museum took place.
