Jan Magierski
He was born in 1936 in Lublin. A graduate of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in chemistry in 1963, a PhD in agricultural sciences in 1972. Associated with the Lublin photographic community, he has been photographing since the beginning of the 1960s. Documentary photography, sightseeing photography and landscape photography occupy a special place in his work. In 1961 he became a real member of the Lublin Photographic Society - currently he is an honorary member of the LTF. He was a member of the Lublin Fotoklub Zamek, in the years 1966 - 1972 he was the president of the Fotoklub Management Board. From 1971 to 1977 he was a co-organizer and curator of the cyclical Polish National Exhibitions Confrontations in Lublin. He is a photography instructor and author of many publications on photography and the history of photography. In 1995 he was admitted as a member of the Lublin Branch of the Association of Polish Art Photographers. In 1998, he was awarded the Honorary Award of Fryderyk Kremser Awards: Badge of Merit of Culture Activist (1979); Golden Cross of Merit (1988); Badge of Merit of Culture Activist; Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2001); Gold Medal for Photographic Works.
