Katarzyna Meres

Kate Meres was born in 1985 in Poland. She achieved the 1st place in the entrance exam for the Art Academy in Krakow in 2004. She left the Art Academy in 2006 to continue with an individual, independent apprenticeship, learning the technique of preclassical realism, which originates from the middle ages. The technique is characterized by a set of rules, discipline, work ethos (similar to Companions du Devoir).

As an apprentice, focusing exclusively on the quality of her work, she anonymously took part in exhibitions & art events in France, Germany, Luxembourg. Throughout this way she gained professional experience, contacts with other artists (Henk Helmantel, Peter Van der Ploeg, Cas Waterman, Arnout Killan).

The crystallization of the technique, rite de passage of an artist took place on the island of Texel, due to the specific light conditions.

As an independent artist she authored & realized many interdisciplinary projects: Painting entirely in front of the eyes of the public oil painting on linen canvas sized 2 meters by 4 meters in the city Katowice, Art Masters Invasion, Culture Institution City of Gardens, 2015.

As a painter who designs fashion haute couture, she also took part in international fashion shows: from detailed anatomical drawings to hand stitched (no machine) prototypes worn by the models on the catwalk; digital display of the creative process from the 2D drawing to the 3D creation. She realized her creative initiative of a painting project in the shopping mall called Galeria Katowicka in cooperation with the management board of the mall & Open Media PR agency, 2020.

From a couple of years Kate takes part in competitions for the realisation of the most interesting performative projects, receiving high notes from the jury, providing finances for projects of which is the author.
