Katarzyna Nowicka
The artist completed her painting studies between 1982 and 1987 at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where she defended her diploma under the supervision of Professor Kiejstut Bereźnicki. Her artistic pursuits include painting, drawing, and collage, and she also teaches these disciplines. She has organized 14 solo exhibitions and participated in nearly 90 group exhibitions held in Poland, France, Germany, Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.
In 2012, she published an article titled Memories of Krakowska 51 in the magazine Arteria, dedicated to the house of Piotr Potworowski in Kazimierz nad Wisłą. She is a recipient of the 3rd Prize at the 18th Festival of Contemporary Polish Painting in Szczecin (2000) and an honorable mention at the 3rd Self-Portrait Triennial in Radom (2000). In 2016, her works were distinguished at the Art Confrontations in Warsaw. For her contributions to education, she was awarded the "Medal of the National Education Commission" (2005), and for her achievements in culture, she received the Silver Cross of Merit (2010) and the Silver Medal for Long Service, awarded by the President of Poland (2016).
Between 1988 and 1996, she worked at her alma mater as an assistant and later as an assistant professor. In 1994, she earned first-degree qualifications in painting, and in 2004, she received her habilitation degree in the same discipline. Since 1997, she has been associated with the Faculty of Art at the University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, where she currently holds the position of university professor. From 2016 to 2019, she served as the Vice Dean for Artistic and Academic Affairs.
The artist actively participated in an educational project under the Socrates-Erasmus-Mundus APS (Art in Public Sphere) program, which ran from 2004 to 2009. As part of this initiative, she co-organized an international meeting at the Faculty of Art in Radom, attended by representatives from universities in Belgium, France, Finland, Switzerland, Spain, and South Africa. For many years, she also served as the faculty coordinator for the Erasmus+ program (formerly Erasmus).
