Kiejstut Bereźnicki
Kiejstut Bereźnicki was born in 1935. He earned the diploma in Painting in 1958 at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (under the supervision of Prof. Stanisław Teisseyre). Since 1982, he runs his studio at alma mater. In 1984 he became a professor. He has been participating in art exhibitions since 1959, achieving numerous successes in Poland and abroad. He participated in the 3rd Youth Biennial in Paris (1963) and in the 8th Biennale in Sao Paulo (1965). For years, he has been presenting a unique artistic style: in his modern paintings, he introduces Gdańsk old masters' realism. He creates deliberately archaic stil natures, feasts, mythological scenes and allegories, as well as characteristic bourgeois portraits (often groups). In the early period of his work, he preferred monochromatic compositions, yet since the 1980s he decided to diversify the color range.
