Zbigniew Gostomski
Zbigniew Gostomski (1932–2017) was a Polish painter, scenographer and conceptual artist associated with the avant-garde movement. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1953–1959), obtaining his diploma in the studio of Michał Bylina. In the early 1960s, he obtained a specialization in the studio of artistic tapestry under Mieczysław Szymański. Gostomski became associated with his alma mater and in 1988 became a professor. He was a member of the artistic group "Krąg" and co-founder of the Foksal Gallery, one of the most important spaces of contemporary art in Poland. The artist experimented with various forms, from geometric painting to installations and spatial art, focusing on perception and the process of creation. Author of numerous individual exhibitions and participant of group exhibitions.
