Hine-korako is one of the Uranic deities who are the personification of the Moon, its phases, functions and states.
The moon attracts attention with its rhythm of becoming, giving birth and dying - it seems to be subject to the same universal laws as humans. This feature is probably why the Moon has become such a common object of religious reflection.
This cyclicality has caused the Moon to be identified with all rhythms of life (cf. Nordic Norns), variability, and consequently - with all spheres governed by the law of cyclical becoming: water, rain, vegetation, vegetation, harvest, fate, time , the duality of life and death (reflected by the full moon and the new moon), sometimes with the afterlife.
Hence, it is not far from interpreting cyclicity as related to fertility - female deities of the Moon are credited with both virginity and fertility (this is the case, among others, with Artemis). Male deities of the Moon are often associated with symbols of potency and fertility (e.g. Sina was associated with a bull), although sometimes they are depicted as old men.
Moon phases allow you to measure specific time (as opposed to astrological time), "living" time (as Eliade would put it), which is associated with, for example, rain, tides, sowing or the menstrual cycle. As a result, many phenomena from various spheres related to the influence of the Moon were linked and considered equivalent. Therefore, since the Neolithic period, the same symbolism has included the Moon, water, rain, fertility of women (mainly) and animals, vegetation, the posthumous fate of man and initiation rites.
