Infants, 2020

The painting, of course, refers to many works by Velazquez depicting maidens, and in particular to "Las meninas".

 Infants in tight and not very comfortable costumes probably had to maintain an attitude consistent with the rigid court etiquette. Here, however, they are a bit relaxed, like infants on vacation, outdoors; hands in pockets, hair flowing. Virgo, judging from their attitudes, currently have different moods - one looks proudly into the distance, while the other one looks down melancholy.
The picture has a rich texture. Free, thin, as if broken lines adjoin the areas with a delicate, glaze and "air" character.
This creates an atmosphere of a hot space filled with bright yellow, vibrating light, which can be described as a holiday space (the painting could be subtitled "Infants on vacation").
