Wojciech Rogosz’s Algraphy in Art in House
Wojciech Rogosz, born in 1959, is a graphic artist, photographer and painter. He is mainly passionate about algraphy – a little-known technique of workshop graphics, consisting in applying an oil painting with graphic paint on an etched aluminum plate. The artist cooperates with the Auction House and the Online Art in House Gallery.
Wojciech Rogosz is a member of the Association of Polish Artists-Polish Applied Arts, a graduate of the Faculty of Photography and Image Information at the University of Warsaw (he also took a year of classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studio of prof. Roman Owidzki). He is a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2020) and a beneficiary of the National Center for Culture and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in the Culture in Web program (2020).
Wojciech Rogosz has been passionate about photography and graphics since he was a child, and he took his first lessons from family professionals: his grandfather, father and uncle. His works have been published in Germany, France, England, Spain, the USA and Canada. In Poland, he made works for albums about Lviv, Warsaw, Jewish culture, and Polish painting. As one of the few Polish photographers, he took pictures for the Polish-Spanish edition of the 12-volume “World Art”. In his graphic fascinations, he relies solely on his own photographic compositions.
The art works of Wojciech Rogosz were purchased by various companies and institutions, such as Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, Teraz Polska Foundation, Business Foundation, Herbapol, Hortex, Wedel, Elektrolux, Husqvarna, Ministry of Interior and Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of the Interior, Embassy Norway, the Embassy of Finland, the Embassy of Argentina, the Żagiel Financial Society, PKO BP, the Allenort Group, in addition to notary and legal offices in the country, as well as many other companies and private collectors from Europe, North and South America, Africa and Australia.
The artist specializes in organizing individual happenings in places unusual for the presentation of art – such as shopping centers in Warsaw (Galeria Mokotów, Arkadia, Złote Tarasy, Promenada, Targówek, Reduta) and in Krakow (Galeria Kazimierz). He has organized over 300 individual exhibitions so far.
Other important exhibitions include:
2009 – Polish Consulate in Malme (Sweden),
2009 – Lode Koppinge (Sweden),
2009 – Umea (Sweden),
2009 – Kunst Galery Malme (Sweden),
2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 – Warsaw Art Fair at the Royal Castle in Warsaw
2012 – Hotel Gromada, charity auction,
2012 – Marriott Hotel
For several years, Wojciech Rogosz has been running the Author’s Gallery at CH Atrium Promenada in Warsaw, where he presents the effects of thirty years of his creative work in an area of over one hundred square meters.
Algrafia – what is it?
Wojciech Rogosz met algraphy for the first time over 25 years ago, while working in the Monuments Conservation Studios in Warsaw. This, largely forgotten graphic technique, consisting in putting a picture in oil with graphic paint on a specially prepared (etched) aluminum plate, met all his workshop expectations. As the artist writes on his website, it is an ideal material that can create individual colors, adjusting to the mood and atmosphere of each topic.
Algaphia was very popular at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Each image created with this technique is characterized by great individuality in color, it is one of a kind, unique and unique. In his algographies, Wojciech Rogosz shows many different topics (from landscape, through architecture, still life, genre scenes to portrait). You can see in them many different climates and moods, which are the achievements of over 30 years of creative work.
