Auguste Moreau – French sculptor, from an illustrious family of sculptors. He was the father of three sculptors (Louis Auguste, Hippolyte and Edmonde) and two painters (Gaston Auguste and Albert Auguste); his brother was the sculptor Hippolyte Francois. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1861 and regularly exhibited his works there until 1913: two- and three-figure genre scenes, allegorical, as well as a few portraits, mainly made in bronze. He gained international fame for his cupid statuettes. His works can be found in museums, including Bordeaux, Dijon, Gray, Paris and Reims, as well as in numerous private collections.
