Ewa Kuryluk
Ewa Kuryluk was born in 1946 in Kraków. She is an art historian, painter, illustrator, author of art installations, essayist and writer. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she also graduated in art history at the Jagiellonian University.
She was one of the initiators of the "For Improvement" movement, which gathered her peers, graduates of the academy, for the first time thanks to the exhibition at the Studio Gallery in Warsaw in 1974. She was also a co-founder of the group "Śmietanka", whose first appearance took place in 1977.
Ewa Kuryluk is involved in both art (she practices painting and drawing) and literary (she wrote poetry, publishes prose, essays and sketches on art). She published, inter alia, volumes of poems Kontur (1979) and Pani Anima (1984), as well as a collection of short sketches on the situation of contemporary art A Journey to the Limits of Art (1982).
