Gustaw Rogalski
Gustaw Rogalski (born June 29, 1887, in Tarnopol, died December 24, 1939, in Przegorzały) – Polish illustrator, caricaturist, and footballer.
He studied fine arts in Germany, served as a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, and taught drawing in Kraków schools. Rogalski published the satirical magazine Rogaty and the biweekly Karykatury. His caricatures often featured prominent figures, including Marshal Piłsudski.
As a footballer, Rogalski played as a goalkeeper. He likely learned the sport during his studies in Germany. From 1908, he represented Cracovia, and starting in 1910, simultaneously (with the tolerance of club authorities) also played for Wisła Kraków. In 1921, he participated in one match during the historic first Polish championship finals. In an away game against Warta Poznań, the match ended in a 2:2 draw, with one goal scored from a penalty by Zygfryd Kosicki—the first penalty conceded by Cracovia in a championship match. Rogalski's single appearance earned him a share in Cracovia's Polish Championship title. At 34, he was the oldest goalkeeper to win the championship with the club and one of the oldest champions overall. He did not play in official championship matches for Wisła.
Rogalski was executed by German forces on December 24, 1939, in Przegorzały, near Kraków.
