Maria Anto was born in 1936 in Warsaw, where she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. She created paintings in the spirit of surrealism, fantastic and primitive painting. The childhood spent in occupied Warsaw left its mark on her work. She overcame her fears and traumas with her magical imagination and surreal compositions.
