Sylwia Wenska
Sylwia Wenska - Graduate of Interior Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She lives and works in Tarnów. She specializes in interior design, stage costumes design and manufacturing of scenography components. In recent years her artistic activity revolves mostly around drawing and painting, as her favourite techniques are crayon drawing and acrylic painting. Her pieces include: allegorical portraits, representations of animals – mainly birds, insects and fish. Her works are characterized by intense colours and large formats. Because of multiple sources of artistic inspiration, her paintings are divided in separate series that subtly touch various topics, problems and ideas. The themes making themselves apparent are religious, ecological and recently also political. These matters are expressed by strong colour and imagery, sometimes gravitating towards comics, popart and manga. She is often changing her painting style, colors, motives and format. She loves artistic pirouettes - after a series of romantic portraits, a red rhino; in between Saint Catherine and Saint Teresa she will paint fluorescent flowers and then Powerpuff Girls. Her motto are words by Picasso: "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working...".
