The painting shows a sleeping fox, curled up in a tight ball against the backdrop of a delicately outlined winter landscape. The fox has soft, ginger fur, the warm shade of which stands out against the muted colours of the surroundings – shades of beige, grey and white. Its closed eyes and the subtle positioning of its body give it a sense of peace and security, as if the outside world had ceased to exist for a moment.
The painting is characterised by delicate, impressionistic brushstrokes that convey both the texture of the fur and the lightness of the surroundings. The composition is simple, but at the same time full of harmony – the loneliness of the fox against the backdrop of empty space seems to tell the story of moments of respite and peace that can be found in nature.
As an artist, I wanted to capture a moment of fleeting silence and the inner warmth that this view brings. The colour palette and softness of the form aimed to create an atmosphere of intimacy and closeness to nature, in which beauty lies in simplicity.
